Shetland life drawing- New model

My life drawing was so rusty at the beginning of the 6 weeks, but just at the very last session I felt like I'd cracked it.
Here's an assorted selection of this session's sketchbook

Another Otter

I basically started this straight after the last blog post earlier today, haha.
Another painty doodle

Things I gone and done

Most of my creative energies have been going into making designs for work (embroideries for customers/ custom tshirts etc), but I have made a few things recently for me.

At work I recently came up with this little guy. We have a new kind of transfer vinyl which is transparent, allowing for transferring sketches which is pretty exciting for me.

He's on sale in the shop.
After drawing the seal, I drew this little otter to match. A few hours in photoshop

Years ago I bought a pyrography machine and doodled a wren on a scrap of old board. I meant to add more to it but it never happened. I found it again a few weeks ago whilst looking through the boxes of my university stuff (which I'm still to unpack, years later).

I had a brainwave and decided that I'd make it into a chalkboard and tried out some Annie Sloan chalk paints on it. The paint is so satisfying to work with. I honestly want to slather everything in the house with it.

I finished off the wren with some pen to darken the eyes and add details

WIPS and stuff

Today's thing I made seems to involve launching a cat up a wall. I haven't animated anything in so long. So I'll see how far I get with cleaning it up and finishing it off. I didn't reference anything, so there is a lot to do yet.

Here is some other stuff.

A water painting I'm working on

And some other silly sketches and things.

Return to life drawing!

Mareel (a music and arts venue in Shetland) hosted a life drawing class last week. It was fantastic. I hadn't done any life drawing since March last year. It was SO good to do it again. I really hope the life drawing sessions become regular up here. Its something Shetland could really benefit from. I think they had to specially hire a model to come up here do the classes, which can't have been cheap. So if they continue, they'll have to find someone more local willing to bare all, haha.

Despite it being more than a year, I surprised myself that I wasn't more rusty. I was quite pleased with what I ended up with.

2 minute poses. Pretty rusty
2 minute poses, still feeling rusty
5 minute poses, warming up
